At Indo-German Shell Cast,we are a manufacturer, supplier and exporter catering to diverse industries such as automotive components, electric vehicle sectors, machinery and power tools, oil and gas and various other industries. We specialize in the manufacturing of gravity die castings, and non-ferrous castings like aluminium based alloy casting in all grades.

Process

Gravity die casting is a manufacturing process that involves pouring molten metal into a reusable mold known as a die, under the influence of gravity. This technique is primarily used for producing high quality, precision metal parts, particularly in non-ferrous metals like aluminum, zinc and magnesium. The process begins with the preparation of the die which is typically made from hardened steel to withstand the high temperatures and pressures involved in casting. The die is designed with a cavity that reflects the desired shape of the final product. Once the die is preheated, molten metal is poured into the mold cavity through a pouring hole, relying on gravity to fill the mold completely. As the metal cools and solidifies, it takes on the shape of the die, forming a finished part that can be ejected once it has cooled sufficiently.

Gravity die casting is commonly employed in various industries such as automotive, aerospace and consumer goods, due to its ability to produce components with excellent dimensional accuracy and surface finish. The process allows for the creation of complex shapes, making it highly versatile. Additionally, gravity die castings can be produced in a range of sizes, from small components to larger parts, depending on the design specifications. The cooling and solidification of the metal occur relatively quickly which can lead to increased production efficiency. Furthermore, the reusability of the die contributes to lower material costs over time, as the same mold can be used for multiple casting cycles.
